File Engineering Executive

Job Description:

KRA for File Engineer (FE):

1. Document Formatting & Layout Design:

   • Ensure correct alignment, fonts, and styles in various document types (brochures, reports, manuals, etc.).
   • Work on multilingual typesetting, including regional and RTL languages while maintaining linguistic accuracy.

2. Software Proficiency & Tools:

   • Use Adobe InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, CorelDRAW, MS Office, and other DTP tools.
   • Ensure compatibility with translation tools like SDL Trados, MemoQ, and other CAT tools.
   • Candidates proficient in RTL languages (Urdu, Arabic, Persian/Farsi, etc.) must also be skilled in RTL DTP work in all the above-mentioned software.

3. Linguistic & Regional Language Proficiency:

   • Command over at least one regional language (Kannada, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Marathi, Gujarati, Assamese, etc.) OR one RTL language (Urdu, Arabic, Persian/Farsi).
   • Perform basic linguistic QA to ensure font rendering, spacing, and special characters are correct in both LTR & RTL languages.

4. Pre-Press & Print Production:

   • Prepare print-ready files and ensure high-resolution outputs.
   • Verify compliance with printer specifications.

5. Quality Assurance & Error Checking:

   • Perform visual QA of documents before submission.
   • Ensure consistency in fonts, styles, and layouts as per client guidelines.

6. Collaboration & Coordination:

• Work closely with translators, proofreaders, and project managers.
• Understand client-specific requirements and deliver accordingly.

   • Verify translation accuracy, grammar, and contextual appropriateness.
   • Cross-check against source content for completeness and correctness.

2. Technical & Formatting QA:

   • Ensure correct formatting, alignment, and layout in DTP and subtitled files.
   • Check font rendering issues, line breaks, and punctuation, including RTL text directionality issues.

3. Linguistic & Regional Language Proficiency:

   • Must be proficient in at least one regional language (Kannada, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Marathi, Gujarati, Assamese, etc.) or one RTL language (Urdu, Arabic, Persian/Farsi).
   • Validate linguistic quality in target files, ensuring proper localization.

4. RTL Language QA Requirements:

   • Candidates proficient in RTL languages must have DTP knowledge of RTL scripts in all DTP software (Adobe InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, CorelDRAW, MS Office).
   • Verify bidirectional text formatting, correct ligature rendering, and adherence to RTL typography standards.

5. Translation Memory & Glossary Compliance:

   • Ensure adherence to Translation Memory (TM) and glossary terms.
   • Report and correct inconsistencies in terminology usage.

6. QA Tools & Processes:

   • Use QA tools like Xbench, Verifika, and built-in CAT tool QA checks.
   • Document and report errors systematically for continuous improvement.

7. Collaboration & Feedback Loop:

   • Work with translators, DTP operators, and project managers to refine quality.
   • Provide feedback for process improvement and training.

Candidate Requirement for Both Roles:

✅ Experience: 2+ years in DTP or Quality Analysis roles.
✅ Technical Skills: Proficiency in required software tools.
✅ Regional Language Proficiency: Must command at least one regional OR RTL language.
✅ RTL Language Expertise (If applicable): Those proficient in Urdu, Arabic, Persian/Farsi must have DTP knowledge of RTL layouts & software handling.
✅ Attention to Detail: Strong focus on quality and accuracy.
